PS4 And XB1 To Sell 30 M By March 2015

During yesterday’s financial call with investors, Ubisoft‘s CEO Yves Guillemot expressed his conviction that the next generation consoles by Sony and Microsoft, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, will sell 30 million of combined units by March 2015.
Guillemot didn’t specify the company’s projection for each console, though. Right now, the consoles have sold around 10 million combined units, with PlayStation 4 taking the lion share since they have sold over 7 million units so far. Microsoft likely hopes to gain some more ground with the announcement of the Kinectless Xbox One, but Sony may retaliate soon enough at E3.
That’s not everything though, as Guillemot also expressed excitement at Microsoft’s latest move:
We are extremely happy with that; we think it’s a great move from Microsoft. We expect the next-gen to grow faster thanks to that. Customers will have the possibility to buy either with or without [Kinect] and that will be a very positive thing for the industry.
This makes sense: Ubisoft is a third party and therefore, it’s in their interest that these platforms sell the most so that Ubisoft’s games can have a larger install base to exploit.
