War Of The Vikings Next Gen Port Looks “Possible”

We have recently spoken with Gordon Van Dyke, Executive Producer at Paradox Interactive for War of the Vikings. Expect our full interview tomorrow, but in the meantime, here’s his comment on the likelihood of a port on next generation consoles such as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
We’ve investigated this a lot more now that the game engine we’re built on supports the latest gen of console and it does look possible, but nothing has been committed to at this point.
The engine used in War of the Vikings is called Bitsquid. After looking on their website, it seems like the engine indeed supports PlayStation 4, but there’s no mention of Xbox One whatsoever. PS4 is also known to be more friendly to indie developers than Xbox One due to absence of clauses such as “launch parity”, required by Microsoft, so it’s a fair bet that if War of the Vikings ever sees the light on consoles, it will be on PS4 first.
War of the Vikings will be released for PC on April 15th, in just a few days. It’s a third person team oriented action online game, and you can read our Gamescom 2012 hands-on here. Check back soon for a lot more on the game.
