Neil Druckmann wanted to kill Elena in Uncharted 2

Spoiler alert for The Last of Us, if you intend in playing this game for the first time there could be a mild spoiler coming. We assume everyone who wanted to play Uncharted 2: Among Thieves had their chance during the last 4 years.

While Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley were answering questions about The Last of Us on reddit, one interesting detail came up.

Everyone who played through Uncharted 2: Among Thieves knows Elena’s future was uncertain until last few minutes of the ending cutscenes. It seems people at Naughty Dog were uncertain about Elena’s future as well. Neil Druckmann revealed that he wanted to kill Elena, but luckily others convinced him otherwise and the game finished in a much lighter and humorous tone. What do you think of this decision?
