Devs To Fix Elder Scrolls Online’s Hit Impact Feeling

Zenimax Online got a lot of negative reactions for Elder Scrolls Online, basically since the very announcement. They have been working to implement features and make additions to the game according to player’s feedback (for instance, they added first person view, which wasn’t originally planned) and, according to an interview published by MMORPG.com, they are now trying to get rid of what is possibly the single biggest issue: improving the feeling of combat. Brian Wheeler said:

Yeah, there’s actually some things we’re looking at internally right now, where we’re trying to give hitting both players and NPCs a little bit more impact. We have in there right now, if you show the health bars, it’ll do a little bit of a flash when you hit a target, but feedback has been asking for some more of that, especially for melee impact, so we’re looking at that right now. For the time being, if you turn on health bars, it’ll do a small little flash when you hit them to help out. It is tough to tell when you’re dealing with 40 or 50 people in front of you that are all enemies, but like I said, we’re trying to figure out some things for that now.

As one of those who thinks that there is indeed something missing while fighting in Elder Srolls Online, specifically the feeling to actually hit something with your weapons/spells, I’m really glad to hear this; combat is, after all, the most common activity in any MMORPG.

We have already published Amanda’s first impressions with the game, but we’ll have a lot more on Elder Scrolls Online before the April release (on PC, while PS4 and Xbox One will have to wait June), including a look at the PvP section (which is apparently quite good from early reports), and possibly a beta key giveaway for you, so stay tuned!
