EA: Nintendo Was Dead To Us Quickly, WiiU Is For Kids

In a gigantic article titled “Nintendo Must Reinvent Itself”, CVG reported an EA source which allegedly stated:

Nintendo was dead to us very quickly

Expanding on the matter, the source added that WiiU became a platform for kids IPs, which EA doesn’t really do.

It became a kids IP platform and we don’t really make games for kids. That was pretty true across the other labels too. Even the Mass Effect title on Wii U, which was a solid effort, could never do big business, and EA like Activision is only focused on games that can be big franchises

This follows the dire news regarding sales, with Nintendo forced to cut WiiU forecast from 9 million to 2.8 units sold by the end of March, resulting in a net loss estimated in 25 billion yen instead of the net profit of 55 billion yen previously forecasted. What do you think? Is EA right, and what needs to change within Nintendo to turn the tide? Let us know your opinion on this delicate matter.
