Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 Not Coming to PS4/X1

After the precedent set by Tomb Raider, with Square Enix releasing an Ultimate Edition on PS4 and Xbox One later this month, speculation is running rampart on similar important franchises that do not currently have a next gen release scheduled. For example, after Producer Dave Cox mentioned last week that Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 will be almost next-gen on PC, many assumed that the upcoming action/adventure published by Konami would appear sooner or alter on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One; quite a few users even went as far as commenting that they’d rather wait for the “ultimate” next gen version then.

Well, they might want to reconsider that stance as Cox just confirmed on Twitter that Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 is not coming to PS4 or X1.

There are a couple of things to consider here - one, Konami stood by their decision of avoiding next gen for PES 2014, even if that meant effectively leaving their competitor (FIFA 14) with a monopoly on the genre. However, Castlevania Lords of Shadow originally released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010, and the publisher only decided to make a PC porting last year, including all available DLC. We might be looking at a similar fate here, with Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 getting a next gen release only when every DLC will be out a year or so from now.

Anyway, for the moment being it’s all speculation: the only fact is that right now the game will be available in late February on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, so if you don’t to miss playing Dracula-Belmont’s last adventure, you have to choose one of the three versions.
