Kingdom Under Fire II Can Display Over 10K Characters

Japanese website 4Gamer interviewed Blueside CEO Sejung Kim on Kingdom Under Fire II, the highly anticipated new entry in the franchise which has been in development for over six years now, and is now scheduled for release on PC and PS4 (which will enjoy exclusive content) platforms in 2014, at least in Asia.

Among various topics, Kim proudly boasted the great prowess of their engine, which can display in Kingdom Under Fire II over 10K characters in a single map. Truth to be told, most screenshots (like the one above) show very large battles, but 10K concurrent characters all in a single map is an impressive number nonetheless, especially since each one of them is highly detailed.

Moreover, as we reported earlier, Kingdom Under Fire II has shockingly low system requirements and this undoubtedly make the technical achievement even more formidable. Maybe this is why Kim also added that their engine has been renamed from Fame Tech 2 to Blueside Engine and it will be available for licensing soon, so the Korean company is looking to profit from their hard work with the licenses bought by other developers.

Imagine a massive FPS with ten thousand units in a single battle, it could be really epic. Alas, it will be a while before Kingdom Under Fire II releases here in the Western countries, but we’re hoping to get more information on this and on the game as a whole in our upcoming interview with Blueside - stay tuned.
