Gaijin: X1 a very capable machine,strange F2P policy

Speaking with us, Gaijin Entertainment‘s International PR Alexander Trifonov clarified the reasons behind the developer’s refusal to release War Thunder on Xbox One: it’s a matter of policy, not hardware.

the absence of War Thunder on Xbox One has nothing to do with hardware itself. This is a very capable machine, and our team has a long history of developing games for Microsoft systems. But the policy of the platform-holder (no cross-platform allowed and a very strange view on how free-to-play should work) makes it impossible to have War Thunder on Xbox One.

Admittedly, they aren’t exactly the first ones to complain about Microsoft‘s policy. Even their direct competitors at Wargaming.net did it, and it’s hard to blame them since F2P titles aren’t free-to-play at all on Xbox Live: the subscription fee is still required, while this is not the case on PlayStation Network. Still, at least Xbox One owners can take a little pride in knowing that the hardware itself was no hindrance to Gaijin.

Will Microsoft cave in and change the subscription fee, no cross-platform policy? That’s a question still without an answer, but if these last few months proved anything it’s that they are willing to make changes if there’s a strong request from customers, so if you think improvements are in order, you should voice your opinion.
