Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 Does Lots Of New Things
Speaking with VG247, Konami producer Dave Cox explained that Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 is doing many new things, which means that the publisher isn’t afraid of taking risks with the franchise.
We knew that we had to retain enough of the core elements of the old series for fans to appreciate the game for what it was. Now, with number two there are certainly more elements from the old series but I think it will become obvious that we’re also doing a lot of new things. We’re not afraid to take risks
At the same time, fans of the past Castlevania titles shouldn’t worry, as developer Mercury Steam made sure that they’ll feel at home.
We’ve tried to keep the core things that we think are important to a Castlevania game, so atmosphere, music, enemies, characters and some mythology that the fans can follow but at the same time we’ve never wanted to make a game that a player will come in and feel alienated.
We want players to be able to step into it and enjoy it for it what it is but to also have something there for fans to recognise
Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 will launch for PS3, X360 and PC in about a month and a half, concluding the work of Mercury Steam with the franchise. The game easily managed to be included in our list of notable upcoming action games.
