PS Plus Subscriptions Increased by 90% Since PS4 Launch
In a press release issued by Sony Computer Entertainment, the firm proudly boasted many impressive figures. An interesting one is that PS Plus subscriptions have increased by an astounding 90% since the launch of PlayStation 4; although growth was to be expected because PlayStation 4 requires PS Plus in order to access multiplayer functionality, a 90% increase is definitely a lot.
In terms of hardware sales, Sony announced to have sold 4.2 millions of PS4 until 28th December, which means that they have already surpassed Nintendo’s WiiU worldwide. In other PlayStation news, Andrew House just announced on stage at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) that the streaming service based on Gaikai technology will be called PlayStation Now.
The service will allow streaming of PS1, PS2 and PS3 titles to a wide array of devices, from PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita to Bravia TVs, smartphones and tablets; it is expected to launch next summer in the USA, while Europe will likely have to wait more because of the more complicated network infrastructure.
