Lords of the Fallen is focused on gameplay, not story
Lords of the Fallen was one of the most interesting titles I saw during Gamescom 2013, and even though 2014 looks to be the best year ever for the roleplaying genre, I’m pretty sure the game won’t be ignored when it releases.
Executive Producer Tomasz Gop explained in an interview with OnlySP that the major focus is undoubtedly nailing the gameplay elements in place, even over the storyline itself, which is somewhat unexpected of a roleplaying game.
Lords of the Fallen is not a story-centric game. We don’t want to say that this game is featuring the storyline that is as complex vast as other “orthodox” RPGs out there. Or that, for example, the storyline of LORDS is as complex as its combat system. We are open about where we put the emphasis: gameplay
From what I was able to see a few months ago, the gameplay seems like it could be enough to hold Lords of the Fallen on its own, although of course I’m also hoping for a nice plot. The title, in development at Deck13 and CI Games, should be released in Fall 2014 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
