Intergi publishes survey predicting PS4 triumph

Following the research on Twitter data led by LeadSift, here’s another perspective from Intergi Entertainment, which surveyed console gamers “across their network of 1,500 sites to determine which next-generation console will triumph the gaming market this holiday season”. They also claim to have received over 5,000 submissions, which statistically means that there is “only a 1.4% margin of error”. Ultimately, Intergi determined that “Sony’s PlayStation 4 will most likely surpass its competitors, specifically Microsoft’s Xbox One and Nintendo’s WiiU”.

We have included their graphs. Regarding purchase plans, PlayStation 4 leads by 19% margin over Xbox One, while WiiU gathered a miserable 1%.

Aesthetics. Certainly not the primary reason to buy a gaming console perhaps, but not irrelevant at the same time. Here PlayStation 4′s lead over Xbox One reaches 24%, while the WiiU still sits at its 1% (which is a bit unfair, as the WiiU looks nice in my opinion).

In their third question, Intergi asked about the “most unique controller function”. PlayStation 4′s touchpad won with 51%, Xbox One’s “rumble triggers” stopped at 35% and WiiU’s second screen experience with GamePad was voted by 14% of the participants.

Lastly, the games. This one was pretty tough as PlayStation 4′s line-up won by a mere 2% over Xbox One. Admittedly, it’s still early days and in the launch window the respective lineups are fairly similar, though it has to be said that Sony concentrated most of their efforts on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita this year with titles like The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, God of War: Ascension, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus, Puppeteer, Gran Turismo 6, Rain, Tearaway and Killzone: Mercenary. Once most of these studios shift their focus on PlayStation 4 from 2014 onwards, I suspect that the gap in terms of exclusives could increase significantly.

Nintendo’s WiiU trails in the last place even in this graph, again a bit unfairly since some good games are coming out for the platform after a rocky start; still, Nintendo will have to do a lot more in order to turn the tides for the console.
