Microsoft have released a 12 minute walkthrough of the upcoming Xbox One’s dashboard as well as a deeper look at some of the media streaming and live TV. The demo features Microsoft’s own Yusuf Mehdi and Marc Whitten.
The demo focuses heavily on the Kinect’s voice command and facial recognition capabilities, as they show it used to traverse the dashboard and switch between games and media.
Some of the voice command stuff looks pretty neat but that all depends on how responsive it is, I guess, although I can’t see myself wanting to use voice commands over just using a controller. The facial recognition and motion tracking could also be pretty cool if it’s used right, they already implemented it into Battlefield 4′s leaning , which can be done by physically leaning left and right in your chair, but at the moment they appear to be no more than flashy gimmicks. The DVR stuff also looked pretty cool, especially as they show off some of the basic editing and sharing features.
The Xbox One launches 22 November worldwide.
