Watch Dogs, AC IV have PS4 exclusive DLC for 6 months

Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will feature downloadable content exclusive to the Playstation platform for 6 months. At least according to small print spotted by the eagle-eyed Shack News in the US version of yesterday’s PS4 promotional video that focused on the platform’s exclusives. The content will no doubt appear on other platforms after the 6 months, but that hasn’t been officially confirmed. Only the US version of the video features this small print, however.

At the one minute fifteen second mark, small print notes that the Assassin’s Creed 4 and Watch Dogs DLC is exclusive to PlayStation for six months. It had already been announced that Watch Dogs and AC IV would feature Playstation exclusive content, but we didn’t know how long that would last.

The PlayStation exclusive Assassin’s Creed 4 content features an older Aveline de Grandpre, who was the protagonist of last year’s Vita title Assassin’s Creed: Liberation. It takes the form of an hour-long story divided into 3 missions. The Watch Dogs DLC has not been announced yet.

The PS4 holding some exclusivity for two of the biggest launch (or now launch window for Watch Dogs) titles is pretty major. It could impact which console sells more copies of these games, and, who knows, perhaps it could even be the defining factor for which console some people buy. I certainly wouldn’t be surprised to see the PS4 sell more copies of these games, especially when you look at the massive hype surrounding Watch Dogs and the inevitable success of Assassin’s Creed. However, with Watch Dogs and The Crew now delayed until Spring 2014 perhaps some people might just hold off on buying into the next generation entirely, or at least until available line-up seems more appealing.
