Good opening for Captain Phillips,Machete Kills flops

Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity, after winning last week, is still sitting on top of the US Box Office, grossing another  $44.3 million, for a movie really loved by both critics and audience.

Meanwhile Tom Hanks had his best opening weekend in years with Captain Phillips, the naval drama which scored a second place with $26 million. But this is not a good week for everyone: Machete Kills failed badly, flopping at debut directly to 4th place with 3.8 million. Director Robert Rodriguez gained four times more with the first Machete at debut. It is now less likely that we will see a chapter 3 in the future.
