All of a sudden, a burst of new information, screenshots and videos have been released for Killzone Shadow Fall, Guerrila Games‘ launch title for PlayStation 4 and the fourth entry in the main series (not counting the episodes on PSP/Vita).
The game has been closely guarded at Gamescom, but just the following week - this one - it’s been playable by the public at PAX Prime in Seattle, which means that YouTube got more than a few videos of the multiplayer mode. Here’s one for your pleasure:
The official website has also been updated with new information. For a starter, at long last the cover/sliding system, introduced for the first time in Killzone 2, will be available in the multiplayer mode as well - hopefully, this will help distinguish the game from titles like Call of Duty and Battlefield which do not have this feature.
In addition, the development studio confirmed that there will be:
- 22 different weapons, all of them unlocked from the start;
- 19 different weapon attachments, which will need to be unlocked after completing specific challenges;
- three distinct classes and 12 special abilities in multiplayer, with each class able to be enhanced with up to two special abilities
Another interesting new feature is that of Combat Honors, temporary bonuses that can be unlocked during gameplay and last until the end of our play session. These bonuses can range from reduced recoil to increased accuracy. Some players already voiced their displeasure for this feature, however Guerrilla quickly confirmed on Twitter that it can be disabled, in the same way as most other settings thanks to the extensive tweaking options available for players.
Finally, the Dutch development studio committed to release DLC maps free of charge (although it is likely that there will be other kinds of paid DLC, like new modes). In a moment when DLC is THE most controversial buzzword in the whole industry, this can only be good news.
