The world of Cinema is really full of surprises. Do you remember that little horror movie by WWE back in 2006 called See No Evil? It was badly received by both critics (Metascore is 17/100) and Box Office ($15 million worldwide). It featured the wrestler Kane as a maniac in a derivative crossover between Friday the 13th and Saw, and it belongs to that kind of movies that actually don’t need, neither deserves, a sequel.
But today, WWE Studios announced that they are making a See No Evil 2 (untitled) in partnership with Lionsgate, with Kane returning as Jacob (don’t worry if he died in the first movie guys, it is already confirmed that he will rise from the dead in the city morgue). But, if this is not a weird news enough, WWE hired an actually great duo director for this project: Jen and Sylvia Soska (image below) which directed in 2012 American Mary, a very good and well-received indie horror about the world of underground surgery (a personal favorite of mine, author). Maybe the Soska sisters will do the miracle.
The screenplay is being written by Nathan Brookes and Bobby Lee Darby with a production starting this fall.
