Jury forces EA to pay $11M to Madden developer

A jury in the U.S. District Court just ruled against Electronic Arts and in favor of Madden developer Robin Antonick, who filed the lawsuit back in 2011.

Antonick claimed that his code from the early Madden in the 80s was used without his knowledge in later Madden titles. Apparently it was a quick decision for the jury, since after just three days of deliberations they have forced EA to pay more than $11 millions in royalties and interest, claiming that Madden games from 1990 to 1996 were “virtually identical” to those developed by Antonick.

His attorney, Rob Carey, was jubilant for what he perceived to be a “tremendous victory”, and added that the decision could open the way for more requests from Antonick regarding more recent Madden titles.
