Ubisoft E3 Live Show Summary

Ubisoft goes all out for their E3 presentation, with celebrities, big reveals, and a hidden wild card that made the Worlds Factory team speechless for a minute. (That is saying a lot!)

Beginning the Ubisoft E3 presentation is an electrifying opening of Jerry Cantrell on guitar, rocking out to the new RockSmith 2014.  Aisha Tyler hosts again, and takes to the stage to ask Jerry what we can expect of this installment of the popular series.  Alice, from Alice in Chains, is back with some great rifts, and new interactions with popular bands are hinted.

Moving one, the release date for Splinter Cell: Blacklist is announced, August 20th 2013, followed by a new trailer.

Up next Rayman Legends shows off a new trailer and promises to be the ‘biggest and best’ to date.  Out Sept. 3 2013.

Following Rayman, is the announcement of The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot.  Think the title is interesting?  Check out the trailer?  Its full of big egos, humor, slapstick comedy, and bleeped out expletives.  The game is a free play world, where the aim is to find loot and protect it.  Build your castle, protect it, then go out and steal from your neighbors and friends.  Expect booby traps and interactive play.  A free beta is available at mightyquest.com

Keeping with the humor, Ubisoft transitions to South Park: The Stick of Truth.  Not many details are given, but a short, crude and rude (what do you expect?) trailer is shown.  Good for a couple of laughs.  South Park will be out this holiday season, or so it hopes, according to Cartman.

Next-Gen games then take center stage beginning with The Crew.  This one caught our attention!  Its an open world playground incorporating single and cooperative play in an entirely online MMO.  Featuring customizable cars, players must infiltrate and take over criminal organizations one city at a time.  This groundbreaking race and chase game blends single player, co-operative play, and competitive play, blurring the lines between these modes.  Invite friends to help win missions and build a crew, then challenge other crews.  Plenty of high speed antics, modifications, and large maps to explore.

A trailer for Watchdogs came up next, but not many new details.  We’ll look to Sony’s presentation and see if they’ve got more to show on this one.

The next installment of Just Dance 2014 is given a few minutes to showcase a brief gameplay trailer, with expected release October 2013.

Raving Rabbids has a new development, with a television show in partnership with Nickelodeon and Ubisoft Motion Pictures.  Rabbids Invasion will be the first truly interactive TV show, where you interact with missions, solve puzzles and effect the show through voice commands an motion camera.  The kids will enjoy this new aspect of total home entertainment.

Finally, the long awaited and highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.  Beginning with an epic trailer showcasing naval battles, tavern brawls, free running, close combat, and traditional aspects of open world exploration.  AC4: Black Flag promises a truly brutal pirate experience.  Heavily researched to convey the beloved symbol of freedom, rebellion, & adventure, Ubisoft will let you explore and interact with this world in ways that you choose.  You can participate, or not, on land & sea, with side missions, opportunities to explore temples and shipwrecks, engage in naval battle or stay on land for close combat.  Finishing up the presentation is another epic trailer.  We’re fairly confidant that AC fans will love this next installment.

A quick look at Trials Fusion for Xbox One, PC an Xbox 360, and Trial Frontier for mobile and next-gen consoles.  Lots of high flying moto-cross antics in these games, due out in 2014.

And now, the wild card hidden up Ubisoft’s sleeve!  Just when we thought the conference was winding down, out pops CEO Yves for a surprise announcement in partnership with Massive Entertainment.  Its an open world online RPG.  The trailer roles with hints of a post-apocalyptic world, a pandemic has caused society to collapse into a Dark Winter.

Directive 51 has been enacted, with sleeper cells and covert agents.  You are a classified unit of agents dispatched to save the system.  It’s Tom Clancy’s The Division, and it looks simply awesome.  Yup, the Worlds Factory team went silent for a full 3 minutes as we sat in rapture of this MMORPG with PVP and PVE aspects.  For PS4 and Xbox One, the online open world game has an as yet undisclosed release date.

With that big finale, confetti guns, sudden blackout and all, the presentation is over.  Next up, Sony takes a turn at E3.
