This certainly is a moving announcement, at least for survival horror games fans: Precursor Games, a newly created canadian software house, just revealed to be working on the spiritual successor of Eternal Darkness, called Shadow of the Eternals. The game will closely follow the acclaimed Eternal Darkness in terms of setting and genre (action/adventure with horror elements) and we’re sure that this will be exciting news for many of you, as the title developed by Silicon Knights was praised as one of the best available for the entire GameCube portfolio.
Precursor Games (which features Dennis Dyack, the head of Silicon Knights, as Creative Director) started a crowdfunding campaign both on their website and on Kickstarter. The funding goal is set at 1 million and a half $, which will fund the first (of twelve) episodes, as the plan is that of a staggered release similar to Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead. In the twelve episodes (which should therefore form a first season of sorts) players will be able to control many different characters spanning over 2500 years of history, much like in Eternal Darkness; the Pilot episode will focus on Hungary in 1600.
Currently, users have contributed for approximately 10% of the required amount and there are 35 days left in the campaign. We’ll keep you updated, but for the moment you can watch the first gameplay demo below. The game is currently planned to release on PC and WiiU platforms in 2014.
