Gerard Butler joins Point Break remake
The actor Gerard Butler (made a cult status star with 300 and recently appeared in Olympus Has Fallen) will soon star for Alcon in the remake of the 1991 crime thriller Point Break.
In the original movie by Kathryn Bigelow, in the coastal town of Los Angeles, a gang of bank robbers call themselves the ex-presidents and they commit their crimes while wearing masks of ex-presidents of the USA. The F.B.I. believes that the members of the gang could be surfers and send an agent, Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeves), undercover at the beach to mix with the surfers. There, Utah meets surfer Bodhi (Patrick Swayze), which introduces the agent to their lifestyle.
Butler will be Bodhi, an expert extreme-sports athlete who seeks hard goals, like surfing 100-foot waves, while the new Johnny Utah has yet to be cast.
Point Break remake will begin shooting this summer by director Ericson Core.
