No Diablo III Remote Play on PS4, says Blizzard
Blizzcon continues at the Anaheim Convention Center, California. This time, we have to report a mildly disappointing news: Blizzard confirmed that there won’t be Diablo III Remote Play in the PS4 version (titled Ultimate Evil Edition).
Senior level designer Matthew Berger said the following, pointing out the smaller screen of the PlayStation Vita:
“Not really. Not for the moment. The Vita is an amazing piece of kit, but the screen is still smaller,” he said. “And when you look at–and also it has its own aspect ratio–and when you look at Diablo III, there’s a lot happening on-screen already. You get surrounded by your enemies, lots of effects flying off in every direction. The inventory can be pretty complicated to navigate sometimes when you have lots of items.”
That doesn’t mean, however, that you’ll never be able to play Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition on your PlayStation Vita through Remote Play.
“So it would be a little bit more of a stretch. It’s kind of percolating in the back of our mind, but we don’t really have any plans right now“
Remote Play allows most PlayStation 4 games to be played on the PS Vita with minimal lag, similarly to the functionality offered by Nintendo with the Wii U Gamepad. Diablo III on PS4 will release some time in 2014.
