The Last Guardian is “moving in the right direction”
Kotaku just published a very interesting article on the Renaissance of SCEJ Studio, which was missing for the greater part of the PlayStation 3 generation. Among many other things, they managed to catch a tidbit on The Last Guardian, the highly anticipated spiritual successor to Ico and Shadow of the Colossus which has already been delayed more than once.
Allan Becker, Senior VP of Product Development at SCEJ (previously Senior Director of Product Development at Sony Santa Monica), assures that the delay is partly due to some changes prompted by himself, but now The Last Guardian is moving in the right direction.
We’re real-time in that process, and we don’t necessarily agree with each other—Fumito Ueda and I—about process. In some sense, I sort of… implemented change, which, I think, is causing some concern and consternation. But, once again, I think the benefit will come through. We’re still going through that phase of adjustment and finding the right balance and groove.
I think it’s moving along in the right direction.
It’s almost certain that The Last Guardian is now in development for PlayStation 4, instead of PlayStation 3 as previously planned. Let’s just hope we hear new information about it in the upcoming year.
