Guerrilla: PS4 architecture is really cool and easier
Speaking with VG247, Guerrilla Games‘ Lead Designer Eric Boltjes said that PS4 architecture is really cool and easier to develop for, at least from a technical standpoint; however, production costs have been increased in order to squeeze all that power.
The architecture is really cool because it’s easier to develop for, you get more memory, you get more hard drive space, you get more processing power so the architecture is easier.
It’s also a lot more demanding, because the production effort needed just to make a next-gen title now is not doubled; It’s quadrupled. That’s because everything needs to look that much better. It takes a lot more people, and that takes a lot more communication. So it does it make things a lot easier from a technical standpoint, but from a professional standpoint it makes things a lot harder.
Killzone: Shadow Fall will launch alongside PlayStation 4 in mid/late November (USA/Europe), and this will be the first time that a game by Guerrilla Games is part of the starting lineup of a new console. The Netherlands-based developer is also working on a new IP, but we don’t know anything about that yet – it’ll likely be announced next year at one of the conventions.
