Warframe to be PS4 timed exclusive at launch
Digital Extremes just confirmed in a press release that Warframe is going to be a PlayStation 4 timed exclusive for three months. The game will be downloadable on PSN starting from the console’s launch (scheduled for 15 November in North America and 29 November in Europe). Here’s the official comment of Creative Director Steve Sinclair:
With how the industry is evolving, this really is the player generation. Games are reaching players hands in so many different ways now and Sony gets it, which is why we are bringing Warframe exclusively to the PS4 first. There’s no reason not to download Warframe on day one if you’re an action game lover – it’s free
They also announced the release of a dedicated app for iOS and Android platforms, called Warframe Nexus. Users will be able to get new tasks and up-to-date game information such as crafting inventories, critical mission alerts and the option to schedule co-op sessions with friends; apparently it will be out for the launch of the PS4 version.
The wording of the announcement implies that Warframe will be brought on another platform – it’s already on PC, by the way, and you can read our review here – which I can only guess to be Xbox One. Anyway, we’ve seen Warframe on PS4 at Gamescom and it looked very good, although we were prohibited to record any footage of it. Look forward to our full impressions of the port when the game launches alongside PlayStation 4.
