Scott Frank writing Assassin’s Creed: The Movie

The Oscar nominee Scott Frank has just received his next scripting assignment, Assassin’s Creed: The Movie by Fox. He will replace Michael Lesslie (who wrote the previous draft).

His most recent work has been The Wolverine, but Frank earned the Oscar nomination for his adaptation of Out of Sight. His past screenwriting also includes Dead Again, Get Shorty, Malice, Minority Report, Flight of the Phoenix, The Interpreter, The Lookout, and Marley & Me.

“I’m rewriting Assassin’s Creed right now, and what I love about it is that I’ve never adapted a video game before and it has its own set of challenges, especially in the world of rewrites, I love trying to do something completely different if I can”.

Assassin’s Creed: The Movie release is planned for June 19, 2015.

Oh man, as someone who liked The Wolverine, I’m excited about this – I think the worst they could do is try to re-tell a story that the games have told so hopefully it’ll be something new. I’ll definitely keep my eye on this movie.
