Dota 2 International Prize Pool Reaches $2.6 Million

Even though Dota 2 beat the highest prize pool in e-sports history months ago, very few people expected the total to rise as much as it did. Today marks the day owners of The International Compendium achieved the stretch goal of $2.6 Million, granting all owners an immortal (limited) item.

With every purchase of The International Compendium, which sells for $10, the prize pool of the tournament increases by $2.50. This means that since the Compendium’s launch about three months back, over $1 Million have been crowdfunded to increase the tournament’s prize pool – and $3 Million reached Valve’s pockets!

The International 3 will be occurring from August 7th till the 14th and will feature the top 16 Dota 2 teams in the world competing for the biggest prize pool in e-sports history. The event can be viewed for free on the Dota 2 client or – don’t miss it!
