Just Add Water would like to do a MGS HD remake
Yesterday, VG247 published an article which suggested that Hideo Kojima, the legendary creator of Metal Gear Solid, was actively looking for a studio willing to remake MGS1 with the power of the new Fox Engine. This however originated from a mistranslated interview, as Kojima later confirmed on Twitter, although he admitted that he likes the idea.
Not wasting any time, today Just Add Water published an open letter to Kojima-san on their website, stating that they would love to be able to work on such a project and pointing out their experience with remakes.
Dear Mr Kojima,
We read with great excitement on VG247 that you were looking for a studio to work with to develop a Metal Gear Solid remake using the Fox Engine, that your team has been hard at work creating.
We at Just Add Water feel ideally positioned to do the remake justice for several reasons:
- We have experience working with legendary IP (Oddworld Inhabitants) and treating the subject matter with the respect it deserves.
- Many members of our team are huge Metal Gear fans, with very good knowledge of the source material.
- We really, really want to do it.
For evidence of our abilities, please check out not only the HD treatment of Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath, released on PlayStation3, VITA and PC, but the current re-creation of Abe’s Oddysee, titled Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty.
We eagerly await your response.
Love and cuddles,
The JAW Team.
We’ll update this if Kojima answers their call publicly, but gamers are already very excited at the mere thought. What do you think? Should Konami give the green light? There actually has been already a MGS remake (called Twin Snakes, it was developed by Silicon Knights and released originally on the GameCube system), but the Fox Engine could bring everything to life once again.
