Kiefer Sutherland is Snake in MGS 5

During Konami‘s pre-E3 conference, the Japanese software house revealed that Kiefer Sutherland is Snake, or rather, will be voicing him in Metal Gear Solid 5. As the game takes place in 1984, at that time Snake was 49 years old – as such, Kiefer Sutherland was a perfect match.

Sutherland expressed his great enthusiasm and commitment to act as this legendary videogame character.

According to Kojima, Solid Snake was born in 1972, so that would make him 12 years old in 1984… Where did 49 come from?

This is Big Boss, not Solid Snake

Then why does the article say it is Snake and not Big Boss?

It’s Snake, but not Solid Snake. There are many “Snakes”…Remember that Solid Snake (just as Liquid Snake) is merely a clone of Big Boss, who used to be called Naked Snake.

Anyway, there’s indeed some confusion on the roles, but that is to be expected with Kojima and MGS.

You’re right on both counts. I’ve recently been playing MGS3 again and Hideo sure can get convoluted with his plots… you just know that with those cut scenes, you’ve probably got time to hit the bathroom then the kitchen for a ice cold beverage and back before it’s over and the game resumes…
